my favorite poem of all time

hi there. :) hope you're doing well and life is treating you kindly!!

I have known this poem for a long, long time. And I have loved it since the first time I read it as a naive yet romantic young third grader... all those years ago.
And it is still my favorite poem. Please -- enjoy.

This is dedicated to all of my friends who have helped me along the way~
~most specifically, my brother, who has just graduated and will be entering a new and different phase of life.
Never lose sight of what is most important, baby brother.

~~

I love you, Not only for what you are, But for what I am When I am with you.

I love you, Not only for what You have made of yourself, But for what You are making of me. I love you For the part of me That you bring out; I love you For putting your hand Into my heaped-up heart And passing over All the foolish, weak things That you can’t help Dimly seeing there, And for drawing out Into the light All the beautiful belongings That no one else had looked Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you Are helping me to make Of the lumber of my life Not a tavern But a temple; Out of the works Of my every day Not a reproach But a song.

I love you Because you have done More than any creed Could have done To make me good And more than any fate Could have done To make me happy. You have done it Without a touch, Without a word, Without a sign. You have done it By being yourself. Perhaps that is what Being a friend means, After all.

and now for some outfit pics from the day of my brother's graduation, last Saturday. My makeup was running that day, believe me.

when this is guiding you home

So I suspect that you've heard the new music on here?

In case you were curious, the first song is "Such Great Heights," (originally performed by The Postal Service, acoustically performed by Iron & Wine) covered by my amazing beau, Kyle.
The second song is "You Really Got a Hold on Me," (originally performed by The Miracles, covered by She & Him) covered by myself, randomly one night. I'm thinking that he and I need to get together and put together some actual cover recordings for my blog. 'twould be nice, wouldn't it?

The reason I asked him to record "Such Great Heights" for me is because I knew that long-distance, I would miss him dreadfully and would want something to listen to that could just remind me of him. This does more than that, because I've heard him play it in person, I get to hear his voice -- and if I close my eyes, I can almost imagine him in the room playing for me. It's a sweet token and I loved the song before. Now it's definitely become one of my favorites!

Today I'm going to show my outfit from my brother's graduation party! I picked out the cutest ensemble, and remixed a dress that I wore to my brother's FIRST graduation party. I love the goldenrod color, and I really don't have enough of it. So I made my dress a skirt (for all intents and purposes, anyway). :D

i finally got some new shoes!

i'm on vacation right now...

Hi there everyone!

As you may or may not know, I am on vacation right now, in Yosemite! YAY Yosemite!
(one of the most beautiful places on the planet, let me tell you...)
I left Monday morning, but I have scheduled some blog posts for this week so you will still get to hear little tidbits from me...

The 5 things I'm most looking forward to in Yosemite are...

1. Relaxing...

We are staying at the Tenaya Lodge just a bit outside Yosemite. A great place with great accomodations. Two pools, tons of things to do like horseback riding and archery -- but the thing I am looking forward to most is just sitting out and relaxing -- getting some "me" time.

2. Seeing the sights...

This is quite literally the most beautiful place on the planet. My goodness. I can't wait!

3. Hiking/Climbing up some waterfalls...

You can't quite tell, but in this picture, there is a rock staircase on teh right side of the waterfall. I get to climb up it! So wonderful! And isn't it breathtaking!?

4. Prayer time...

I really feel like this trip will give me a good opportunity to see God in the beauty of the world. And this also has to do with number 5...

5. Being a 5th wheel on my parent's 25th wedding anniversary trip...

Yes... my brother is bringing his girlfriend. And don't get me wrong -- I LOVE his girlfriend. I think she's wonderful. But my parents don't get their own bedroom on their WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. Does something about this seem wrong to you, too?
Anyway -- i get to be a fifth wheel. Awkward me. Joy.

I'll have to write up some posts when I get back about the trip with pics and stuff. :D
Talk to you later!
